Alaska State Boating Regulations
The website for the Arizona Game and Fish Department states that educated boaters are 70 percent less likely to be involved in a boating accident. The site also suggests that the best thing you can do for your safety, the safety of your passengers and other boaters is simple—take a boating education class.
However, it appears that as of this writing (June 2010), a boating safety test or certificate is not required. In fact, their boating guide states that except in case of emergency, no person under
the age of 12 years may operate a watercraft
