Colorado State Boating Regulations
A Boat Safety Review Session is required for 14 or 15 year olds to operate a boat in Colorado. You must be 14 years or older at the time of the review session to take the test. Boat operator cards will be issued to students who attend the review session and pass the final exam, which must be taken in person. Course information can be found at

Anyone 16 years old or older may also take a web based boat safety class and exam to receive a safety certificate by mail.
