The Waters of Georgia
Lake Lanier, Lake Oconee, the Altamaha River, the Savannah River, the Suwannee River and the Chattahoochee River are just a few of the boating and fishing destinations in the state of Georgia, where you'll also find over 100 miles of coastline on the Atlantic Ocean.
Georgia State Boating Regulations
All boaters under 16 years of age must have passed a boating safety course approved by the Georgia Department of Natural Resources in order to operate a motorized vessel 16 feet or longer.
12 and 13 year-olds need to have passed a boating safety course and be under direct supervision of a competent adult.

You can take the Georgia boating exam directly on the Internet
at BoaterExam.com™, which is approved by the Georgia Department of Natural Resources. Once you pass the online test, you can purchase and print a temporary Georgia Boating Safety Certificate and use it until your permanent certificate is mailed to you.
