The Ohio Dept of Natural Resources runs a very comprehensive site for boaters, with online boat registration renewal, maps and information on Ohio's waterways, and all the state's boating regulations and laws.

Ohio's Dept of Natural Resources website states that Ohio's waters include 451 miles of the Ohio River, approximately half the entire surface area of Lake Erie, more than 605 inland lakes, and over 60,000 miles of inland streams, rivers, and other waterways. Ohio Boating Regulations

An Ohio boater education card is required for anyone born on or after January 1, 1982 who operates a boat over 10hp on Ohio's waters. The boater education card should be carried onboard the vessel while underway. Children under 12 may only operate a motorboat on Ohio waters if they are accompanied by an adult with a boater education card.
