Ohio Boating Regulations
An Ohio boater education card is required for anyone born on or after January 1, 1982 who operates a boat over 10hp on Ohio's waters. The boater education card should be carried onboard the vessel while underway. Children under 12 may only operate a motorboat on Ohio waters if they are accompanied by an adult with a boater education card.
BoaterExam.com offers an online course and exam for free, approved by the Ohio DNR Division of Watercraft. Pass the test, and you can purchase and download a temporary certificate which is valid immediately until your permanent Ohio boater education card is mailed to you.
